STUDENT POLICIES

ATTENDANCE

Students are expected to attend their classes on a regular basis. Regular attendance is necessary in order to advance through the levels of study. If students desire to perform in the dwhas, recital, or other opportunities, absences leading up to the performance are highly discouraged. Dancers can make up a missed class by attending an alternative class of similar age. We understand certain sports or other commitments can be a direct conflict with classes. We will find an alternative option. Starting classes months late is not in the best interest of the dancer or fair to the rest of the dancers in the class.

TUITION

Tuition is to be paid by the 10th of each month, from September through May. A schedule of class rates is posted on the bulletin board based on the number of hours a dancer takes each week. Payment is preferred by utilizing automatic withdrawal - you are welcome to sign up on your parent portal. Payment is also accepted by placing a check in the tuition box ( a wooden box located under the bulletin board in the lobby) or via cash in an envelope with your dancers name.

PUNCTUALITY

It is important that students arrive on time and are ready to dance at their scheduled class time. It is disruptive to the other dancers, and the progression of our classes moves quickly. We encourage that dancers use the restroom before their class commences to avoid disruption during classes.

CLASS CALENDAR AND SEVERE WEATHER

In the case of inclement weather, we make a day-of decision by 2:00pm. Please check our facebook and instagram pages prior to coming to class when in doubt of weather cancellations. We offer alternative class options for inclement weather closings. We often follow IASD school calendar for closings for breaks, inclement weather, and emergency circumstances.

CLASS CANCELLATIONS

SHDS reserves the right to cancel classes due to low enrollment. Enrolled families will be contacted to discuss alternatives. 

DISCONTINUANCE

Classes must be paid through the month. If you are planning to withdrawal from a class it must be prior to the 1st day of the month.  Refunds are not given for missed classes or for withdrawals, although in certain situations, refunds and credits may be given on a case by case basis.  Camps and intensives must be paid in full upon registration unless otherwise noted on the parent portal.

LOBBY AREA

We ask that our dancers be respectful in our lobby not to disrupt other classes. We have a homework room that our dancers are welcome to use while waiting for class!
